Hans Gedda
You have probably never heard the name Hans Gedda if you aren’t Swedish, infact, being Swedish wouldn’t guarantee it either. What you might have seen are some of his iconic portraits taken during the 70s and 80s. Nelson Mandela, Andy Warhol, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Bjorn Borg and the late primeminister Olof Palme are only a handful of the people that have been caught by his...

GOLF WANG
My lovely girlfriend gave me this book for Christmas. It’s a collection of pictures from the GOLF WANG blog by the Odd Future collective with Tyler, The Creator. Odd Future are more than a music group. It’s a collective of skaters, artists, photographers and most importantly a group of friends at the center of America’s next punk movement. The book features their...

New Delhi
It was a thick layer of dust and smoke that greeted me as I came into landing. India is just as hysteric as I remembered it to be ten years ago. I am here with a couple of friends to participate in the 2012 Rickshaw Run across India. We are taking a notoriously unreliable Tuk Tuk all the way from Jaisalmer, by the Pakistani border, down to Cochin some hundred miles south. So log onto our...

It is loud, crowded and hot in the main gaming hall. Over 10,000 computers framed by an array of fast food stalls. It is the bi-annual Dreamhack festival held in Jönköping, Sweden. It is largest LAN party and computer festival in the world. Gamers from all over the world make their pilgrimage here twice a year to participate in the 72 hour festival.

At Night I Fly
Trailer for Swedish director Michel Wenzer’s “At Night I Fly”. The documentary opens on a tantalizing note. Upon entering California’s New Folsom Prison, a level-four maximum-security facility, Wenzer and his crew are told there’s a ‘no exchange policy.’ Which means? “No one can be released in exchange for you if you were to be taken hostage,” the warden says. Sounds promising.

Gasland
I just finished watching Gasland by Josh Fox. It is heartwrenching. I keep trying to wrap my head around how these things happen over and over again. It astonishes me how we fail to learn from our mistakes. It is easy to become cynical, but that haven’t helped anyone. Instead, this really shows the importance of creative and talented people, like Josh Fox, to be able to tell the stories...

Tools + Yashica
I had a broken focus dial on my new Yashica, but I managed to sort it out with these precision tools. Hurrah! I’m off to Rome next week, hopefully I’ll get some good shots out of it!

Kill your darlings!
Roy / Tidaholm, Sweden Went to a storytelling workshop with the brilliant Pieter Ten Hoopen at his summer house in Hjo, Sweden, last weekend. Really intensive and very inspiring! South Africa based photographer Per-Anders Pettersson joined us as well as a mentor. The focus of the weekend was to develop our storytelling skills through the tempo and the construction of a reportage. One line that...

Tim Hetherington
Diary - Tim Hetheringon (2010) Almost two months have gone now since Tim was killed on Tripoli Street in Misurata, Libya. I remember the morning when Tim’s picture, together with his colleague Chris Hondros, popped up on the morning news here in Sweden. Impossible, was my first thought. But as the news came rolling in and more information came through, things just got a bit more real. ...

Tears of Gaza
Tears of Gaza - Vibeke Løkkeberg I am in Sweden at the moment and I have, for once, managed to time my visit with the Gothenburg International Film Festival. As always with festivals you run around and try to see as much as you can but there was one film that really stuck with me. Tears of Gaza by Norwegian filmmaker Vibeke Løkkeberg. It is one of those exhausting movies to watch, disturbing...

Digital Camera Photographer of The Year 2010
Hello everyone! A couple of months ago I managed to grab the first prize in the Documentary category in the Digital Camera Photographer of The Year competition! Happy times! But since my blog have been as forgotten as last years Big Brother winner, I simply haven’t written about it until now. It was one of the images from the Scavengers I did in Jakarta last year. ...

In London
So, what have happened since my last post? I have finally had a haircut, I have been shortlisted to the Digital Photographer of The Year Awards 2010 with a picture of a landfill worker in Jakarta and I have moved back to London again after being away for quite some time. It feels good in a way that I have decided to stay in one place now but also a bit daunting considering I have made a habit...

The Briefcase
In my family we have always had this briefcase with old family photos. I have always found them really fascinating, but ever since my grandmother died probably even more so. There is a jumble of pictures of everyday life, parties and birthdays and weddings. Events that have been important to my family. Some really old, some quite new. Apparently my great grandmother Justina (the lady in the...

Scavengers
I have been working on this since mid-May and I have finally felt happy enough to publish it. It is a story about the trash pickers in Jakarta. It was a quite tough story because I didn’t really know what to focus on and it felt that I had taken on an issue that was a bit too big for me. It was such a massive thing to meet these people who with a smile invited me into their lives with a camera....

Back and forth
.. with a little bit of Swedish summer. Hello everyone, It has been eons since my last entry and I thought that it would be a good idea to publish something to keep this blog alive.. I have been back and forth quite a lot the past month, from festivals outside of London to birthday celebrations in Copenhagen and mini road trips in Sweden. All good fun! I am flying back to London on the 7th...

Back in Europe
So, I managed to get back to Europe safe and sound. Spent a few days in Kuala Lumpur before jetting back to London. The end of an amazing journey, and the start of another one. I am back in Sweden now, spending a bit of time with my family. My grandmother passed away last week in an accident. It still feels unreal. I was in Kuala Lumpur when I got the news, spent a few days in a sort of...

People of Bantar Gebang
I have just started editing images from a trip I did yesterday. My friend Ed joined me for the day as well before he went to Kuala Lumpur. Together with Sidarta, a local photographer, we set out to document the people living on one of the largest landfills in the world. Bantar Gebang, south east of Jakarta.  It was first when we arrived to the site that I realized the scale of the place. It is...

Tourist attractions
Before I left Yogyakarta for Jakarta I managed to squeeze in some tourist attractions. Went to the (according to the brochure) world’s largest Buddhist temple, Borobodur, and a massive Hindu temple called Prambanan.  Two beautiful places where I surprisingly seemed to be more exotic than the temples. At Borobodour I was mobbed by a herd of school children that wanted to have their picture taken...

In Jakarta
I arrived in the eleventh largest city in the world, Jakarta, early yesterday morning after a surprisingly comfortable 10h train ride. Tired and a bit overwhelmed by the vastness of the place I stumbled into the annual Turkish Film Festival. What a great find! I saw two really good films, Gunesi Gordum (I Saw The Sun) and Babam Ve Oglum (My Father and Son). Have a look on the previous post. ...

Update from Indonesia
With a laptop full of ants, I thought I’d write a small update. I am in Indonesia, currently in Bali but I will be traveling to East Java later on today. It is hot and sticky as you would expect and I have just realized that my hair (which have been growing out of control for about 6 months) is too long for countries with a short proximity to the equator.. I am first heading to Kawah Ijen, a...

At the Rodeo
The day started with a small debate regarding the pronunciation of the word Rodeo. My mate Ed was claiming the proper way was Rode-o, meanwhile I was firm in my beliefs that the correct way was to say Ro-de-o, referring to the famous shopping street in Los Angeles (pronounced Ro-de-o Drive). We later learned that we were both right, him being English saying it the English way, and me the...

Hello! Welcome to the launch of my new blog. Virtual Champagne for everyone!! I have had a few different ones and, yes I know, it can be a bit confusing.
